“It feels amazing,” he told Premier League Productions. “Every time I score it’s obviously the best feeling – I think everyone who knows the feeling can relate.
“[I’m] definitely living the dream – it’s not a normal job. I’m very fortunate – and all the players are – to be playing the sport we love. Every game gives me a massive buzz.
“Walking out before the game and seeing the fans, the fans cheering you on; knowing that if you win a game it makes their day and their weekend.
“It’s a great feeling.”
Gallagher was full of enthusiasm for his time in south London so far, and says the club has made him feel welcome.
“I’m loving it – I think you can see by the way I look on the pitch,” he explained. “I’m always happy, smiling and enjoying my football.
“It’s gone really well this season playing under the boss. I feel like I’ve been able to express myself, which has been brilliant.
“The whole club has been amazing with me: the players, the staff, the fans. They’ve all taken me in and been amazing, so I’ve got to thank them for that.”
There was a convenient timing about Gallagher’s arrival on loan, as his long-time friend Marc Guéhi also signed from Chelsea over summer.
“It’s great fun – me and Marc are really close friends,” he said of playing together at Palace. “We grew up at Chelsea together, we played at England together throughout all the age groups.
“We get along really well and he’s a top player also. The thing is with Marc: he comes across very serious and focused, which he is, but I see another side which is childish Marc.
“It’s very funny and keeps me entertained throughout every day, so I’m happy I’m one of the few that knows about it.
“Around the changing room he’ll do something weird and I’ll be like: ‘What are you doing?!’ He’s not normal – but he’s a nice guy, he’s very focused and he’s a great player as well.”
