Aleksandar Mitrović has taken the first Man of the Match award of the new season.
A goal in either half against Liverpool helped us to earn a more than deserved point on Saturday, but there was so much more to his performance than just his brace.
“I repeat something I said maybe 20 times last season, Mitro is not just a goal scorer for us,” Marco Silva said post-match. “He did an unbelievable job this afternoon without the ball. Unbelievable.
“The way he pressed, the way he helped the midfielders, in some moments he helped the backline as well.”
Mitro’s first was classic centre forward play, as he completely bullied Trent Alexander-Arnold to get on the end of Kenny Tete’s delicious deep cross.
His second was all of his own doing, sending Virgil van Dijk into a tailspin with his quick feet before drawing the foul from the Reds defender.
Mitrović then picked himself up to emphatically plant his penalty beyond Alisson, who had guessed the right way.
The big man also claimed the BT Sport MOTM accolade, and 54.3 per cent of Fulham fans agreed that he was our star man.
João Palhinha had a sensational debut and duly came in second with 29.1%, ahead of the excellent Antonee Robinson (7.9%).
