Fulham made it two draws from two Premier League games as our meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers ended goalless.
In difficult conditions as the sun cooked Molineux throughout the encounter, clear chances were understandably at a premium.
But it was the Whites who had the best one when awarded a penalty late on. Unfortunately, though, Aleksandar Mitrović could not repeat his heroics from 12 yards of last week.
Following the impressive showing against Liverpool, Marco Silva opted for an unchanged XI for our trip to the West Midlands.
Marek Rodák was called into action as early as the third minute when he made himself big to keep out Pedro Neto on the angle. The ball kindly returned to the Portuguese winger, but his header back across the face thankfully drifted wide.
Wolves were finding some joy with quick breaks down the left and a minute later Hwang Hee-Chan found himself in. Again Rodák came out on top with a strong block.
Fulham’s first effort on goal arrived on the quarter hour mark when Neeskens Kebano won possession high up the pitch and fed Antonee Robinson on the overlap. His cross found Mitrović but it was a difficult one to control and he volleyed way over the bar on his weaker left foot.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid came very close to opening the scoring in the 22nd minute when his movement at a corner allowed Andreas Pereira to find him unmarked. His header had Jose Sa beaten in the Wolves goal, but Ruben Neves was there to hack it away before it reached the line.
There was hairy moment after half an hour when Tosin’s momentum caused him to knock the ball out of Rodák’s grip, but Neto’s decision to take a touch rather than shoot ended up getting the Whites off the hook.
At the other end, Robinson was presented with a sighter from distance, but drilled his low shot a couple of yards wide.
Eight minutes into the second half it looked as if the hosts would surely take the lead when Rayan Ait-Nouri’s low centre found Morgan Gibbs-White at the far post with the goal gaping, but he could only skew it off target at full stretch.
It was unsurprising that chances were few and far between considering the thermometer was reading 32 degrees, but both sides were doing their best to mount attacks, and Kebano drew a save from Sa midway through the second half after cutting in from the left.
As we approached the last 10 minutes of the contest, Andreas slid De Cordova-Reid in with a cute pass. The Jamaica international just beat Ait-Nouri to the ball, and the full-back took the bait. Mitrović, though, saw his penalty beaten away by Sa.
Jay Stanfield was then sent on for a Premier League debut, in place of Kebano, with Tom Cairney following soon after for Andreas.
Mitrović almost made amends in the 88th minute when he got on the end of Harrison Reed’s corner, with his flick-on heading towards De Cordova-Reid, who was crowded out just in time before he could bundle home.
Considering the conditions, the players probably could have done without 10 minutes of stoppage time – a period that, despite its length, failed to deliver an effort on goal as the two sides shared the points.
