INDIVIDUALS FROM BOTH CAMPS PROVIDE THEIR TAKE ON FULHAM VERSUS NEWCASTLE UNITED ON SATURDAY.
Eddie Howe
Their centre forward, Mitrović, last year had an incredible season but he’s carried that form into this, not just for his club but for his country. If you have a striker in that form, with the potency that he has at the moment, that’s a really good foundation for success.
Then off the back of that, they’ve got very good structure, a really good way of playing. I think Marco has done a very, very good job with his team. It’s going to be a difficult game for us – but one we know that if we get everything right ourselves, we can win.
Marco Silva
Firstly, Eddie made a huge, huge impact last season on Newcastle, the way they finished, when they showed the quality. They are really well managed with Eddie, I think he’s doing a very, very good job.
But we are at home. Against all the teams in this competition we are full of motivation to match them. At home we are really strong.
It will be tough for us but will it be tough for them, I’m 100% sure, as well. I think the Cottage can play a key role in tomorrow’s match again and, of course, we are confident.
Joelinton
I think every game we go with the mentality to win the game. We know it’s going to be difficult because they’re in a good way, they’re playing at home, but we have quality in the group to go there and win the game. We worked hard this week to go there and have a good game, and hopefully get the three points.
Andreas Pereira
They have a good team with very good players and a good manager, so we know they have a very skilful team. We can expect anything from them, but we have to prepare and look at ourselves, just do our best to win the game.
They are strong on the counter attack, they have very good players up front, so we have to be aware, even when we have the ball, that they can be deadly at times.
Callum Wilson
We have Fulham on Saturday, which is away – looking forward to that one. I’ve worked hard to get to a point where I’m available for selection. I’ll be working hard this week in training, and then we’ll see where we are at.
Bernd Leno
Newcastle have a very good team but I think they’ve underperformed a little bit. They had a big game against Liverpool but conceded a [winning] goal at the end, two weeks ago they played against Bournemouth and unfortunately got just one point.
They have a little bit of pressure to win some games, and I think at Craven Cottage we showed everyone how strong we are, what kind of football we play. I think they respect our game and it will be very tough for us, for them as well, so I think it’s going to be a 50-50 game.
