MAN CITY MATCHDAY PREVIEW

November 4, 2022 12:09 pm

MANCHESTER CITY V FULHAM | SATURDAY 5TH NOVEMBER 2022 | 3PM | ETIHAD STADIUM | #MCIFUL

The opposition

  • It’s been a typically fast start to the season for Manchester City, with last month’s narrow defeat at Anfield the only loss they’ve suffered in all competitions, the Community Shield aside.
  • Remarkably, though, they do not find themselves top of the pile, with Arsenal currently sitting at the summit. Victory for City on Saturday would see them replace the Gunners, for a day at least.
  • City finished their Champions League group stage campaign in style on Wednesday with a 3-1 win over Sevilla. First place had already been confirmed for Pep Guardiola’s men going into that one, despite goalless draws in their previous two fixtures away to Copenhagen and Borussia Dortmund.

Man City team news

Having missed the last two matches, Erling Haaland is expected to be fit for Saturday, having returned to training this week. Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips both miss out, though.

Fulham team news

In addition to wingers Neeskens Kebano and Manor Solomon, we will also be without the suspended Bobby De Cordova-Reid, who picked up his fifth booking of the season against Everton. Layvin Kurzawa is back in training and could return to contention.

Tickets

Tickets are on sale until 4pm on Friday, in person or over the phone (0203 871 0810), but must be collected from the Ticket Office.

Weather

There is a small chance of rain at kick-off. Temperatures around the 12 degree mark.

Player insight

Bernd Leno is realistic about the difficulty of Saturday’s match, but wants Fulham to try and spring a surprise at the Etihad.

“Of course, they will have more possession, but we want to play our game as well,” he told FFCtv. “We are very unpredictable – we can play long balls, we can play short, we are good on set-pieces. I think there is still a chance to surprise them and we just have to believe.”
