The Club’s American and Welsh representatives played out a 1-1 draw in their Group B match at the World Cup on Tuesday evening.
With Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson at the back for the States, and Harry Wilson and Dan James supporting Gareth Bale, it marked the first time four Fulham players had ever started a World Cup fixture.
It was a game of two halves really, with the USMNT bossing proceedings in the opening 45, and deservedly taking the lead when Christian Pulisic slipped Timothy Weah in for the Lille man to stab beyond Wayne Hennessey.
James was sacrificed at the break as Wales introduced Kieffer Moore in an attempt to go more direct, and it paid dividends as they exerted much more control in the second half.
They had to wait until the 82nd minute to restore parity, though, when Walker Zimmerman clattered Bale in the box. (Fulham twitter was in uproar at this point after the commentator incorrectly identified Ream as the offender).
Bale dusted himself down to emphatically plant his penalty in the back of the net.
It was a first World Cup performance for all four of our boys – a moment that will live with them throughout their careers and lives.
Ream, in particular, had an excellent match, proving once again that age is just a number.
