WORLD CUP: MITRO’S SERBIA BEATEN

November 25, 2022 12:59 pm

Aleksandar Mitrović got his World Cup campaign up and running on Thursday evening, but Serbia fell to a 2-0 defeat against pre-tournament favourites Brazil.

Serbia proved to be a tough nut to crack, keeping the Brazilians out for an hour before Premier League striker Richarlison bagged himself a brace to secure the points for his side. His second strike is already an early contender for goal of the tournament.

Mitro was hoping to add to his already impressive 50 international goals, but the countries all-time leading goalscorer was unable to get himself on the end of any real opportunties.

Despite falling to a defeat in their opener, Serbia Head Coach Dragan Stojković would have been pleased with aspects of his team’s performance.

Mitro will look to get himself off the mark next Monday, when he faces a Cameroon side also looking to get their first points on the table.
