On Sunday, Fulham Women travelled to the South Coast to play Saltdean in their first game of 2023. Despite awful weather conditions, Fulham picked up a point as the scoreline ended 2-2.
The squad were ready and excited to get back out on the pitch after the Christmas break, with plenty of energy and positivity on display.
Fulham started strongly and created many goalscoring opportunities in the first half. Ellie Olds was relentless and managed to get multiple shots on goal, but it was Saltdean who took the lead.
The equaliser came in the 23rd minute when set-piece specialist Tia Foreman found the top right corner from a free-kick to draw Fulham level.
There were a couple more chances for Fulham before the half-time whistle, but the score remained level, meaning Fulham would have to dig deep in the second half.
Steve Jaye’s side were put on the back foot again after the break as Saltdean regained the lead.
But Fulham continued to battle in the wind and rain, pushing forward and looking for a second goal. They drew level again through Georgia Heasman with just over an hour gone.
Both teams pushed forward to find a third goal late on but had to settle for a point.
