We were thankful that Sunday’s game was on a 3G pitch meaning we had the all clear to play despite the cold conditions. Fulham Women travelled to Kent to play Aylesford.
The starting line-up saw Edie Kelly return for her first league game since recovering from injury. We saw some changes in the starting XI, differing from when Fulham last played Aylesford at home. This was the first time Tessa Allen, Annie Thomas, Ellie Olds, Tia Foreman, and Alex Hayman would start against Aylesford this season.
Fulham Women were awarded a penalty in the opening minutes of the game for a hand ball inside the box. Tia Foreman took the opportunity to get an early lead and swiftly placed the ball into the bottom right hand of the corner of the goal.
The majority of possession was held by Fulham throughout the rest of the first half, putting Aylesford under immense pressure. However Fulham where not able to get the ball to cross the goal line again in the first 45 minutes.
Fulham’s half-time talk was game changing, the player came back out onto the pitch with a fresh new mentality and look on the game. Within 10 minutes of the second half Ellie Olds showed us what she is made of and puts the team 2-0 up.
Captain Mary Southgate wanted in on the action so went up to join the attacking unit for a corner. Southgate got her head behind the ball and directed it into the back of the net. Fulham were then comfortably 3-0 up.
Striker Ede Buchele stepped onto the pitch at the back end of the second half and instantly impacted the game by scoring two goals and making the final scoreline 5-0 to Fulham Women.
