Saša Lukić is keen for Fulham to extend our unbeaten run when we face Leeds United on Tuesday.
Progression in the Emirates FA Cup would mark seven matches without defeat, with Lukić looking forward to hopefully featuring, after not being permitted to against Sunderland.
“I didn’t play in the replay in the last round,” Lukić explained. “I was ineligible as I hadn’t played in the first tie.
“This game could be a good opportunity, because all the matches are important for us. We want to get a good result to continue in the competition, and carry on the good results we’ve been achieving recently.
“I’ve been here only a month so every opportunity will be good for me, as I’m feeling better each day.
“Tomorrow’s game is important as it’s a chance to be better in other games, too, to gain belief and confidence. However, I don’t want to look too far ahead as my main focus is the Leeds game.
“Of course, they have a new Head Coach, who I know as I played against his side [Valencia] in Spain. They are a strong, well-organised team, but we need to concentrate on ourselves and play in our way, as we have done in the previous games.”
Fans got a good look at Lukić on Friday, after he came on at half-time against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
His introduction coincided with an upturn in performance from the Whites, and the midfielder was pleased to help his side come back to earn a point.
“All the players in the squad have to be focused when coming on, in order to help the team,” he said. “I came on with Manor and we were able to show our abilities and qualities to assist the team.
“We were called upon to do just that and we must also look to improve and develop in each game.
“It was a good point because we didn’t play as well as we would have liked in the first half – we weren’t able to play in the way we wanted to.
“In the second half, we were able to perform better, and it was a good example of how we should play.
“Toward the end of the match we could have won, with two good chances, but we weren’t able to win. In the end we took a point, which gives us the force to keep going.”
Lukić is closing in on one month as a Fulham player – a period he’s enjoyed so far.
“From the first day I have felt good, and made to feel welcomed by everyone, the Head Coach and everyone who works at Fulham, and I want to thank everyone. Everything is set up here to support the players and make them better every day.”
