BRENTFORD MATCHDAY PREVIEW

March 4, 2023 1:02 pm

BRENTFORD V FULHAM | MONDAY 6TH MARCH 2023 | 8PM | GTECH COMMUNITY STADIUM | #BREFUL

The opposition

  • Brentford are currently enjoying the Premier League’s longest unbeaten run, having not tasted defeat since they were humbled 4-0 away to Aston Villa, winning five and drawing six of their 11 league fixtures since.
  • They have taken some decent scalps this season, with Liverpool and both Manchester clubs falling to defeat against the Bees, who find themselves sitting ninth in the Premier League standings. They are currently four points behind Fulham, but have played two games fewer than us.
  • Monday’s match is Brentford’s first in over two weeks, as their meeting with Manchester United was postponed due to the Carabao Cup Final, while there was no Emirates FA Cup action following a Third Round exit to West Ham United.
Brentford were last in action against Crystal Palace on 18th February

Brentford team news

Pontus Jansson and Frank Onyeka are available following hamstring injuries, meaning goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha is Brentford’s only absentee.

Fulham team news

The first of a two-game suspension for João Palhinha means either Harrison Reed or Saša Lukić will operate at the base of Fulham’s midfield. Injury rules out Neeskens Kebano, Tom Cairney and Layvin Kurzawa.

Tickets

Fulham’s full allocation has sold out for this game, meaning there will be 1,725 fans in the away end.

Weather

There is a fair chance of rain in Brentford throughout Monday, though hopefully the worst of it will have passed by kick-off. Temperatures will be around the six degree mark.

Car parking

Official car parking is available for supporters driving to the game.

Player insight

Bernd Leno has his sights set on achieving a Premier League double over our local rivals.

“They’re in a similar position to us,” he told FFCtv. “Their main target was to stay in the league.

“I think they make it so hard, especially for the big teams, to beat them. But it’s a completely different match against us. We go to Brentford to win the game, not just to take one point.”

Coverage

The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, while FFCtv subscribers can listen to commentary from Gentleman Jim and Jamie Reid.

Fan behaviour

Fans are politely reminded to be considerate of those around them when celebrating goals and on public transport at away matches.
