MAN UTD MATCHDAY PREVIEW

March 17, 2023 2:21 pm

MANCHESTER UNITED V FULHAM | SUNDAY 19TH MARCH 2023 | 4.30PM | OLD TRAFFORD | #MUNFUL

The opposition

  • Erik ten Hag’s first season at Manchester United must surely be considered a success, but it could be considered phenomenal, depending on how things play out between now and the end of May.
  • Having already secured the Carabao Cup, United also find themselves in the latter stages of both the FA Cup and Europa League. A Premier League title challenge is probably beyond them now, though.
  • A trio of 3-1 wins have brought them to the Quarter-Finals of this competition, with all their ties taking place on home soil. Everton were first to fall in Round Three, before 10-man Reading were put to the sword. Their toughest test came in the Fifth Round, when United needed extra-time to get beyond West Ham United.

Man Utd team news

Casemiro serves the first of a four-game suspension, so Fred will be partnered by either Scott McTominay or the fit-again Marcel Sabitzer in midfield, with Christian Eriksen still sidelined with the ankle injury sustained in the Fourth Round victory over Reading, and Donny van de Beek out for the season. Alejandro Garnacho is out with ligament damage, Anthony Martial is still not ready, but Antony could feature if he’s over his recent illness.

Fulham team news

Layvin Kurzawa, Shane Duffy and Neeskens Kebano are all out, but Tom Cairney and Willian are both back in contention following injury. João Palhinha is also available having served his two-match ban.

Tickets

Tickets are no longer available to buy, and will not be sold on the day. Fans collecting from Old Trafford should head to the Ticketing & Membership Services building at the Main Ticket Office.

Weather

There is a slim chance of rain in Manchester come 4.30pm, but it should hopefully remain dry, with temperatures around nine degrees.

Player insight

Tim Ream is relishing the chance to play in Fulham’s first FA Cup Quarter-Final since 2010.

“It’s our first one in a good number of years,” he told FFCtv. “It’s a change of pace for us, a different competition, and one we’re really looking forward to, one we’re going to put everything into to try to get to a Semi-Final, make it to Wembley, and give our fans something else to dream about.”

Coverage

The game will be broadcast live on ITV, with coverage starting at 3.45pm, while FFCtv subscribers can listen to commentary from Gentleman Jim and Jamie Reid.

Fan behaviour

Fans are politely reminded to be considerate of those around them when celebrating goals and on public transport at away matches.

Matchday screening procedure

Manchester United have provided us with the following information:

Every supporter attending at Old Trafford is subjected to a screening process prior to entering the stadium that includes a physical and/or visual search. In addition, there are restrictions on the size of bag that can be taken onto the stadium footprint.

Exceptions will only be made for bags containing essential medical provisions/equipment or baby changing items that require larger bags.

In order to ensure that spectators are able to enter the stadium and access their seats prior to kick-off we recommend the following:

– Arrive at Old Trafford and get to your turnstile at least an hour before the start of the match (turnstiles will open two hours before kick-off).

– If at all avoidable, do not bring a bag larger than 20cn x 15cm x 5cm (8″ x 6″ x 2″) with you to the match; this equates to a small handbag.
