Fulham Women travelled down to Worthing on Sunday to play at the Crucial Environmental Stadium against Worthing FC Women.
There was positive energy during the warm-up as the squad prepared themselves for the game ahead.
Worthing started strong and scored two goals in the first 12 minutes.
This put Fulham on the back foot, and they had to work hard to stop the Worthing players from breaking through again.
Captain Mary Southgate led with intent and brought a fighting force from defence, creating great opportunities with her passing range, in addition to having a go on goal herself.
The first-half came to an end with the score 2-0 to Worthing.
Libby Stratton made some great saves in the first and second half, providing Fulham with a chance to come back from behind.
Forward Georgia Heasman got herself into shooting positions, however she wasn’t able to get the ball into the back of the net.
Summer Roberts and Lilly Lambird both came very close to scoring, which showed great tenacity towards the end of the game, as they did not give up and kept pushing to score, but Sunday was not Fulham’s day.
Worthing managed to keep hold of their two goal lead for the entire game, as the scoreline ended 2-0 when the final whistle was blown.
We look forward to playing Worthing again at Motspur Park on the 16th of April.
