LIVERPOOL MATCHDAY PREVIEW

May 4, 2023 11:56 am

LIVERPOOL V FULHAM | WEDNESDAY 3RD MAY 2023 | 8PM | ANFIELD | #LIVFUL

The opposition

  • What had looked like a disappointing season for Liverpool could yet end with a Champions League spot, with four straight wins moving them onto 56 points. A Europa League berth is more likely, but the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and Brighton will push them all the way.
  • They’ve been beaten nine times this season – seven more defeats than they suffered throughout the entirety of 2021/22 – but have still produced some breathtaking performances, notably the 9-0 and 7-0 wins over Bournemouth and Manchester United, respectively.
  • There was incredible drama at Anfield in their previous outing. After Liverpool exploded into a 3-0 lead after quarter of an hour, Tottenham Hotspur produced a spirited comeback, culminating in a stoppage time equaliser, but Diogo Jota struck at the death to clinch a 4-3 victory for the Reds.
