João Palhinha believes Fulham’s performances against Manchester United this season show that we’re capable of ending on a high on Sunday.
A stoppage time Alejandro Garnacho goal denied us any points at home back in November, while the Whites were in control of our FA Cup tie until multiple red cards swung the tide.
“We will try to avenge the two games against them,” Palhinha said. “I think it was two games that we could have won.
“The last game we had some players off the pitch, but before that we had played a really good game at Old Trafford. But even in the first match in our Cottage, it was a game where we showed until the final minute that we could have won.
“And I think this third game against them will be the same. It will be a tough game, of course, we will play in an amazing stadium with an amazing atmosphere, we all know that.”
Victory at Old Trafford would put the Whites on 55 points, which would be a record for the Club in the Premier League.
“We will face this game like a final, because we all want to break the record for the Club, try to be the first Fulham team to catch these points,” Palhinha stated. “We missed the opportunity last match, we drew, but now we face another opportunity, and the last opportunity, with the same ambition.
“It’s a motivation, because no-one got these kind of points that we are close to achieving. This shows the quality that we have, what we’re capable of.
“The Club was in the Championship last season, and after one year in the Premier, to be doing what we are doing is really, really, really good.
“It’s really important, and we need to think on this because we have a lot of value, and I think we have to give a good answer in the next match against United.
“We will try to win and achieve this record.”
