Young winger puts pen-to-paper with Burnley
Burnley Football Club are delighted to announce the arrival of forward Luca Koleosho from Espanyol for an undisclosed fee.
Italy U19 international Koleosho has signed a four-year contract at Turf Moor and becomes the Clarets’ sixth new signing of the summer.
Born in the USA to a Nigerian father and Italian-Canadian Mother, Koleosho played for Manhattan Kickers as a youngster before moving to Spain with his parents to pursue his football career and join Reus Football Club.
Koleosho joined Espanyol in 2016 and went on to rise through the academy ranks and feature five times in La Liga before moving to Burnley.
The 18-year-old represented USA at U15 level and was called up to Canada’s senior side last year but didn’t make an appearance, with Koleosho now representing Italy U19s after receiving his first call-up earlier this year for the Azzuri.
After joining the Clarets, Koleosho said: “It feels amazing to be here. As soon as I got the call from the coach, I knew i wanted to come here.
“We spoke about the way they would help me improve and get better as a player and I was just excited by it, I can’t wait to get started now.”
