Danish winger reviews Premier League season opener

Jacob Bruun Larsen began his Burnley career against the the Premier League champions Manchester City at Turf Moor on Friday night but despite the defeat the 24-year-old is hoping to use the challenge as a learning opportunity to improve and push on.

Providing a spark in the second half for the Clarets, Bruun Larsen was introduced on the hour mark as Vincent Kompany’s side searched for a way back into the game.

Speaking after the match, the midfielder said: “We had some chances. You’re not going to get a lot from this team obviously so we have to be clinical. But, we started at the top of the league in terms of teams to play against and we will get better from now.”

“It was difficult out there obviously. They’re a brilliant team, maybe the best in the world. Very clinical and we saw that on Friday.

“Obviously we’re not there yet but we have to keep our heads up and keep working and that’s our main focus and I hope it goes better when we play again.”

Bruun Larsen arrived at Turf Moor in July on a season-long loan from TSG Hoffenheim and the winger has enjoyed his first month in Lancashire

“I enjoy the club, I enjoy the fans. I grew up, in football terms, in a club where fans and the community around the club is everything for the city.

“That’s my impression here, that this club means a lot for the people and the fans here in this town. I really enjoy that.”

“I got a great feeling on the pitch on Friday. I was happy when I came in from the warm up and saw all the fans and you feel the atmosphere. Obviously I wanted to give them something back to cheer.

“I’m happy to have met you all the fans and I’m looking forward to hopefully celebrate with you all very soon.”
