Nottingham Forest
Having secured a 16th place finish last season, Forest are enjoying their second consecutive season in the Premier League after manager Steve Cooper guided them back to the top-flight in 2022 following a 23-year absence.
Forest added over 20 new signings in their first season back in the PL across the summer and winter transfer windows with two former Clarets goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and striker Chris Wood amongst them.
Ahead of this season, the Reds made Wood’s loan move from Newcastle permanent in the summer and signed Anthony Elanga from Manchester United and goalkeeper Matt Turner from Arsenal.
Argentinian defender Gonzalo Montiel and youngster Andrey Santos arrived on season-long loans from Sevilla and Chelsea respectively with former Fulham and Hull City full-back Ola Aina joining on a free transfer.
Form Guide
Kompany’s side head into this cup tie having lost the opening two Premier League fixtures of the campaign.
Manchester City ran out 3-0 winners on the opening night before Aston Villa took all three points in Sunday’s Turf Moor clash.
Forest have lost two of their three league fixtures after an opening weekend defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates, Steve Cooper’s men followed it up with a 2-1 victory against Sheffield United at the City Ground.
Despite then being two goals ahead inside the opening four minutes at Old Trafford last weekend, United’s three goals saw Forest suffer a 3-2 loss in Manchester.
What Vincent Kompany said
“It’s an important game for us again to keep improving as much as we can and try get that first win.
“It’s a competition like last year that we felt we had a good run-in, like the FA Cup too and I think our fans enjoyed it.
“It would be nice to go on another run like that again and hopefully we can start that on Wednesday with a win.
“Every game is important for us and we can’t ever put on the shirt and treat it any differently than the fact we have to win.”
