Striker pleased to get off the mark and seal Carabao Cup success
Zeki Amdouni’s last-minute winner saw the Clarets edge past Nottingham Forest and seal a spot in the Third Round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
The 22-year-old substitute netted the only goal on the evening and was thrilled to secure the victory and build on the win moving forward.
“I’ve been waiting for this goal for the first three or four games and I’m really happy to have scored in front of the fans – and celebrate with the fans.
“It was a good game by all the team. Also, a player off the bench is important in a game like that. We know it’s 90 minutes and during the week, to play two times in the week, is not easy. At the end this goal after 90 minutes was really important.”
The goal kept penalties at bay, which the Swiss international was happy with!
“Penalties are 50/50 so it’s better to score before the penalties for sure. We kept a clean sheet also; we didn’t concede a goal and the win is the most important.
“The first two games were not for us, we lost. The fans want the win and I’m happy that in the end in this game we could win in front of the fans.”
Amdouni has his sights set on Spurs on Saturday believing that the win midweek is a good foundation to build upon.
“I hope that this game is going to be a good game for the next few games, getting that win to push on. Saturday is important, to win at home, I hope we’re going to do a good job this weekend.”
