Alan’s notes ahead of this afternoon’s game
Good afternoon, welcome back to Turf Moor for today’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.
We arrive today following our Carabao Cup win at Nottingham Forest midweek. It’s fantastic to progress further in the competition and it was important to get our first win of the campaign under our belt, so we can build on this going into the league.
I was pleased for Zeki Amdouni who got the winning goal on the evening and I’m looking forward to facing Salford City in the Third Round.
On a separate note, I am disappointed that following last weekend’s home game there was an incident in Burnley involving the Aston Villa team coach.
We spoke to Aston Villa after the event, and I was relieved to hear that nobody was hurt. It saddens me that an act such as this should take place in our town, a town in which the football club is at the heart of. Everybody at the Club, myself included, strongly condemn the behaviour of those involved and the Lancashire Police have our full support with their investigation into finding whoever was responsible.
An individual who would choose to behave in this way, and endanger others, does not represent our Club or reflect our fanbase.
I sincerely hope that moving forward, incidents such as this cease to occur and instead we can be celebrating all the fantastic things that we are working hard to achieve, and not have the unacceptable actions of a small minority, tarnish our Club and our town.
It’s been another incredibly busy week, at the time of writing these notes we are approaching Transfer Deadline Day and it’s been another eventful window as we welcomed several new faces to the squad. I hope you can all appreciate the process that is taking place here. We have a young, hungry set of players and a dedicated and passionate coaching team with Vincent at the helm. I see the hard work that goes on day in, day out, and that work takes time. We’re on a journey as a Club and I’m truly excited for what’s to come.
Now, we have another tough test ahead of us this afternoon. Let’s keep building and give the team our full support.
I hope you all enjoy the game. UTC!
Alan
