Winger looks ahead to this weekend’s fixture
Lizzie Hamer is looking to build on her goalscoring form, as she netted in the first league game of the season against Liverpool Feds.
The Claret Women winger also grabbed an assist in the 3-2 victory and is looking forward to returning to the Lancashire FA County Ground in Burnley’s home opener this weekend against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
She said: “I think we’re only getting better at the moment and it’s good to get on the scoresheet and get off the mark for the season.
“It’s an area of my game that I’m looking to build on this year and I’m looking forward to getting going at home in front of the fans.
“Our preparation has been good, we’ve had a great week of training, we’re well set-up and we’re ready.
“Wolves are always a strong team, we’ve played them a lot over the last couple of years, so we know how good they can be, but we also know that when we’re at our best we can beat anyone.”
Hamer is a long-serving member of the Burnley squad and has seen a lot of new faces come into the team during the summer break and ahead of the 2023/24 season.
However, she believes that side is as strong as it’s ever been and is ready for the challenges that this campaign will bring.
She added: “I think our squad is looking really strong, we’ve had a few new faces come in, but everyone has settled into things really well.
“We’re getting used to each other now, in how people play on the pitch and what everyone is like off the pitch.
“Connections are getting better and everyone’s gelling, so I think it’s looking good for this season, and hopefully build on last year’s strong campaign.
