BRUUN LARSEN AIMING FOR CUP SUCCESS

Danish forward previews Tuesday’s cup visit to Salford

Jacob Bruun Larsen insists that the mentality and preparation ahead of Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup third round clash with Salford City stays the same as it would facing Premier League opposition.

The Clarets take on Salford at the Peninsula Stadium, with the Ammies already beating Sky Bet Championship opposition twice in Preston North End and Leeds United in their path to the third round.

Despite City being three leagues below, Bruun Larsen knows it’s going to be a challenging cup tie in Salford but hopes Burnley can perform well and claim a place in the next round.

The Denmark international said: “We will prepare ourselves for it. Train and prepare as well as we can ahead of it and it’s an exciting game that we have to win.

“It’s a match we want to win and I think that we will see a good team on the pitch on Tuesday and a strong performance.

“If we play against a top four Premier League team or a League Two team, it doesn’t matter we have to go out and show the same face and same mentality.

“I am hoping and aiming to put in a good performance. For me there are never any easy games and even though they aren’t in the Premier League it’s not going to be easy.”

Bruun Larsen added: “We know we want to win, have to win and we will try do our very best there, that’s only the thing we can try do every single time regardless of the opposition.

“There’s the tactical side of it which changes for each opposition but the mentality has to stay the same every match.

There is another sold-out away end expected in Salford and the Danish midfielder is hoping the Clarets can send them home with a smile on their face.

“We will do everything to go give the supporters something to cheer about on Tuesday and we look forward to seeing everyone there.”
