Luton Town
Luton have had a miraculous rise to the Premier League after playing in the Conference Premier League just 10 years ago.
After reaching League Two in 2014, It took the Hatters just four years to then secure promotion into League one, where an instant promotion saw Luton reach the Championship at the first time of asking after finishing 1st in the 2018/19 campaign.
Following three years in the Championship, Town then sealed a 3rd place finish last season under Rob Edwards and were promoted to the Premier League at Wembley via the playoffs with a penalty shootout victory against Coventry City.
Ahead of Luton’s first seasons in the Premier League, the Hatters bolstered their squad with 11 signings.
Amongst the incomings, Full-back Ryan Giles arrived from Wolves, Tahith Chong joined from Birmingham City, Jacob Brown signed from Stoke City, Mads Andersen from Barnsley and Thomas Kaminski transferred from Blackburn Rovers.
Town added some top-flight experience in Ross Barkley and Tim Krul and signed Chiedozie Ogbene as a free agent. Midfielder Albert Sami Lokonga, who played under Vincent Kompany at RSC Anderlecht arrived on a season-long loan from Arsenal.
Form Guide
Burnley come into the midweek clash off the back of a 2-0 defeat at St James’ Park on the weekend despite an impressive start in Newcastle.
The defeat was the first on the road this season, after picking up wins at Nottingham Forest and Salford City in the Carabao Cup and a point at Forest in the league last month.
Kompany’s side will be searching for the first three points of the season on Tuesday but will be coming up against a Hatters team who picked up their first win of the campaign on Saturday.
Luton won 2-1 at Goodison Park against the Toffees but had lost four of their previous five Premier League fixtures and drew 1-1 against Wolves in their first home game of the season.
Town were knocked out the Carabao Cup last Tuesday following a 1-0 defeat to Exeter City.
What Vincent Kompany said
“We are creating some really good chances but we do have to start putting them away but it’s a good sign.
“We have had some big chances and strong moments and the lack of goals isn’t through the lack of creating chances.
“There has been some good team performances shown in the last few games, but now it’s about results and we know it will be a tough test going to Luton.
“We’re going to keep fighting for every single game and we haven’t been far away from a couple of results.
“Against Forest and United we showed what we can do and if we keep doing that and i know it’s not easy but eventually we will get results.”
