Winger on winning goal at Kenilworth Road
Jacob Bruun Larsen was ecstatic following a rollercoaster game against Luton Town which saw the substitute score a wonder goal to secure the Clarets first three points in the Premier League.
Celebrating in front of the travelling Burnley support with his teammates, it was a night of emotion for the summer recruit.
“I’m feeling a lot, a lot of joy, a lot of different pictures in my head after the game. It’s been a long journey for me personally, you know everyone has their own story, the manager also told us in the dressing room afterwards – everyone has their own story. Today it was another picture in my mind today, to look back to when I’m older, so I’m really happy. Especially the way it happened, that I could share it with this group of people, I really enjoyed it.”
There was 65 seconds between Luton Town’s equaliser and Bruun Larsen’s goal, helping the away side quickly nullify the momentum the home side had after scoring.
“A game like this is a little bit of a rollercoaster at the end. They play a lot of long balls, and we defended well. The boys did really, really well, huge compliments to the team. It was a tough game and timing, I don’t know, I don’t care when it is just as long as we win then I’m happy.
“Everyone is happy about the win, but everything is basically staying the same. The work we do everyday is the same, the mentality we have in the dressing room is the same. It’s not going to change just because we won 2-1 today or lost last week, whatsoever.
“Keep our heads down I guess you say here in the UK and work hard, stick together. That’s what we do if we win or lose and today, we can celebrate a little bit, but we have a game shortly again on Saturday. We have to recover well.”
When asked what he would be taking from the game into Saturday’s encounter with Chelsea he replied: “I have absolutely no idea! What the manager and staff say, what we get out of this match, we look at it in the meetings and we prepare for Chelsea. I love this programme where you have games all the time. It’s really intense but I love it. It makes it so much fun when you work with people that have the same drive and you can really feel that with the lads here. I’m sure we’ll be very well prepared for Saturday, and you will see a very good team playing.”
Finally, Bruun Larsen was delighted to share the celebrations with the away supporters in attendance.
“It’s my first song that I’ve ever had from fans, I really enjoyed it. Brilliant support today, you could hear them all the time. Great day out, I won’t forget it obviously! The lads when I scored, I was just pure emotions and the guys were like go enjoy it, go to the fans. I’m just happy. Seven minutes extra time was a long time, it was all about just getting it over so we could get the three points.
“Great defending today from the defenders all over, actually from number 9 back to the goalie. We conceded one, it’s a difficult place to play, the pitch is not that big, it’s very intense. I really enjoyed it, great atmosphere, great game I think for the neutral. Great show but yes we fought until the end and I’m just really happy.”
