Brentford

The Bees are enjoying their third successive season in the Premier League following their promotion to the top-flight via the play-off final at Wembley in 2021.

Boss Thomas Frank took charge of the club in 2018 following Dean Smith’s departure and it took the Danish manager just two-and-a-half seasons to guide Brentford to the Premier League.

Brentford secured a 13th place finish in their first campaign following their move to the new Gtech Community Stadium after leaving Griffin Park, before coming 9th last season.

This summer saw the Bees bolster their squad and sign former Clarets defender Nathan Collins from Wolves and Neal Maupay on a season-long loan deal from Wolves, whilst SC Freiburg duo Kevin Schade and Mark Flekken both arrived on permanent deals.

There were a handful of departures at the Gtech this summer which saw goalkeeper David Raya join Arsenal, Mads Bidstrup move to Red Bull Salzburg, Sergi Canos leave for Valencia and defender Pontus Jansson depart on a free transfer to Malmo FF.

Form Guide

The Clarets head to west London after the international break following a 4-1 defeat last time out to Chelsea, but their last trip on the road saw Kompany’s men claim all three points at Luton Town.

Burnley have only lost once on the road this season which was at Newcastle last month. In all competitions away from home the Clarets have won three, drawn once and lost once.

Like the Clarets, Frank’s side have won just once this season in the league which came against Fulham at Craven Cottage in August and have lost four of their previous five fixtures in all competitions.

At home the Bees are still yet to win, after an opening weekend 2-2 draw with Spurs, Brentford have drawn at the Gtech Stadium with Crystal Palace & AFC Bournemouth before defeats to Everton and Arsenal (Carabao Cup).

What Vincent Kompany said

“Every game will be tough in the Premier League, but everybody knows when you play Man City and these sort of teams, they have something extremely special.

“Now we get to take the learning from this first period of games and look forward to hopefully being good in all of the games coming up and getting some points.

“I’m past the point of reflecting on previous fixtures now, I’m locked in on Brentford! We are expecting a really tough game against a good side.”
