Clarets host Blades in league action on Saturday afternoon
Burnley FC U21s side are back in league action on Saturday, as they host Sheffield United at the Burnley FC Training Ground in the Professional Development League (KO 12pm).
The last time the U21s side were in league action, ended in a 3-1 defeat away from home against Peterborough United at the Idverde Training Ground.
The Clarets began the game on the front foot and were ahead within ten minutes, as Murray Campbell played an expertly placed ball over the top of the Posh defence and Westley was on hand to lob cleverly over the head of Fynn Talley and into the net.
Donay O’Brien-Brady levelled for Posh just before the break, as he picked up the ball from the resulting goal kick and hammered a volley into the bottom corner leaving Casper with no chance.
Jacob Wakeling then put the hosts in front and O’Brien-Brady added his second of the game to condemn Burnley to defeat.
The Clarets are currently 7th in the table, whilst the Blades hold a top of the table positon as they remain undefeated so far this season. The side have started the season with three wins and two draws, with their last match ending in a 2-1 victory away from home against Peterborough United.
The last time these two sides faced each other, Burnley fell to a 4-0 away defeat at Bramall Lane.
Oliver Arblaster and Will Osula both fired wide for the hosts from inside the area before the latter headed home the opener at point-blank range from Louie Marsh’s cross.
Kyron Gordon’s header doubled United’s advantage just before the hour-mark as the defender glanced home Peck’s free-kick.
Osula grabbed his second with a half volley at close range on the 70-minute mark and made it 3-0.
Midfielder Marsh scuffed wide from Sai Sachdev’s pull-back then added a fourth with a glancing header.
Saturday’s U21s game at the training ground is open for spectators to attend.
