Claret women turn attention to FA Cup competition
Burnley FC Women take a break from the league this weekend, to take on Huddersfield Town Women in the first round of the Women’s FA Cup.
The Clarets reached the fourth round of the prestigious competition last season, before bowing out to Cardiff City Ladies in a 4-1 defeat in Lancashire.
Victories against Cheadle Town Stingers, Tranmere Rovers Women and Norwich City Women saw Burnley FC Women reach the fourth stage and Rebecca Sawiuk’s side will be hoping to enjoy a positive run again this time out.
The Clarets and the Terriers came face-to-face in the league earlier this season with Burnley running out 5-1 winners on the day, with goals from Amaya Coleman-Evans, Maria Francis-Jones, Rhema Lord-Mears and two from Millie Ravening.
Sunday’s Women’s FA Cup game will take place at Darwen’s Anchor Ground. Kick-off is 2pm and entry is free. All support is much welcome!
