Clarets take on the Reds in Lancashire Senior Cup tie

Burnley’s U21s side are back in action Tuesday evening (7pm) as they host Liverpool in the Lancashire FA Senior Cup at the County Ground, Leyland.

The Clarets are the current champions of the Lancashire Senior Cup, as the side sealed their victory against Barrow in August with a penalty shoot-out win at the County Ground.

Barry Lewtas’s Liverpool side currently sit 8th position in the Premier League 2 Division 1 table, as they come into the cup tie with a 4 wins, 2 defeats and 2 draws since the start of the season.

Last time out, The Reds fell short against previous Lancashire FA Senior Cup final contenders Barrow, losing 2-1 in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

Liverpool’s Mateusz Musialowski opened the scoring, as the midfielder played a one-two with Melkamu Frauendorf before hammering a 25-yard strike into the top corner for his third goal in this season’s competition.

Former Clarets youngster Sean Etaluku then levelled for Barrow on 65 minutes, before Mazeed Ogungbo headed home 15 minutes from time to give the Bluebirds victory.
