Ahead of Friday’s FA Cup trip to Spurs we take a look at some of those that have featured for both teams over the years

Kieran Trippier

Manchester-born Trippier joined the Clarets on an initial loan deal ahead of the 2011/12 season after rising through Manchester City’s academy system and spending the previous campaign on loan at Barnsley. The full-back quickly became a fan favourite and turned the loan move at Turf Moor into a permanent deal in January and went on to play every league game that season and win the Club’s Player of the Year award. Two more years in the Championship with Burnley followed which saw the Clarets and Trippier secure promotion to the Premier League in 2014. The defender was once again an ever-present in the top-flight playing every match before leaving in the summer to sign for Spurs. Trippier spent four seasons in North London and scored his first goal for the Club in a 1-0 win over Watford in his first year. The right-back played an integral role in his final year at Tottenham, as Spurs reached the UEFA Champions League final in the 2018/19 campaign before Trippier departed that summer for Atletico Madrid.

Dean Marney

Raised in Barking, Marney came through the academy system at Spurs after joining as a teenager. After a loan spell with Swindon Town, the midfielder made his first team debut for Tottenham against Birmingham City at the beginning of the 2003/04 campaign. With gametime limited, Marney then spent time with QPR and Gillingham across 2004, before again returning to Spurs where he was thrown straight into the action at White Hart Lane. Marney started in a 5-2 win over Everton on New Year’s Day of 2005 where the central-midfielder scored the opener and the final goal of the game. After 13 years with Tottenham, Marney joined Hull City in the summer of 2006 and spent four years on Humberside before moving to Burnley in 2010. In Marney’s first four seasons at Turf Moor, the midfielder missed just three league games and became a cult hero during his time in East Lancashire. Helping the Clarets secure promotion to the Premier League on two occasions in 2014 & 2016, the former No.8 played just short of 50 games in the top-flight over his eight years at Burnley before leaving in the summer of 2018. Marney is now back at the Club working within the academy in a coaching role.

Following three years in France, the winger had spells with Sheffield Wednesday, Falkirk, Bradford City and Sunderland before moving to Turf Moor in 1997.
